Abi & Dan were married at The Woodhouse in Wollombi. This is what advise they have to share to those planning their wedding.
How did you meet? We met on Tinder back in 2019. It was love at first swipe!
What was the first thing you decided on as a couple when arranging your big day? Our venue and wedding date.
What wedding vibe were you after? We were after something timeless, minimalistic and classic but still with elements that represented us such as an ice cream cart with our favourite flavours and our first dance being Latin styled as it was a shared activity that we loved.
How did you choose your outfits? For the groom, we wanted a classic tuxedo in keeping with our wedding vibe. As the bride, I wanted a minimalistic wedding dress but changed into a first dance and reception outfit that let me have fun on the dance floor.
How did you decide on your venue? We loved our venue for its beautiful grounds, ceremony locations and the reception area of the Woodhouse was beautiful. It truly took our breath away when we first drove into the grounds and the venue was booked that day.
What was the most stressful part of the planning process? Trying to finalise our guest list and RSVPs!
What was the best thing you did to make your wedding easier? We gave our bridal party and parents an itinerary of the day so everyone was on the same page, ie hair and makeup time, time to arrive at the ceremony, who was in charge of what etc. Having a wedding coordinator onsite really helped too!
Lots of people get nervous before their wedding, did you? Yes, the nerves started to kick in that night before the wedding but was felt most just before the ceremony/walking down the aisle!
Who was your stand out vendor? We had such a great team of vendors who all contributed to making our day extra special, we loved them all. We had a few standouts - Sarita our celebrant who absolutely set the tone for the day and captured our love story beautifully during our ceremony, Silent Shout who provided acoustics and DJ bringing the good vibes and White Lane Studio for capturing our special day in both film and photos.
Is there anything that you would change about your day? If I could control the weather, I would’ve made it less hot haha
Did anything go wrong on your day? I woke up with a swollen eye the morning of the wedding and we had to change our ceremony location the night before due to the forecasted heat. Everything worked out though!
Have you got any advise for a couple planning their wedding? Plan the wedding that you truly want and best represents you as a couple. Things that are unique and important to you truly stand out and add a different touch for your guests. Also make sure you love your vendors and their work. They do so much to make your day special and we couldn’t fault any of our vendors who all went above and beyond.
How has life changed since you got married? We got married in 2023 and have since had a little baby boy in 2024 bring our love and relationship into its next chapter.
